There is no better feeling than warm, dry feet in miserable cold weather. This is why having a good pair of winter boots is so important. The best winter boots should keep you as warm and dry when commuting around town as they do on rough terrain during a snowy hike in the woods.

We spent nearly three months wrapped up in a warm winter coat so we can research and test 10 pairs of winter boots to tell you that the Sorel Women's Caribou Boot (available on Amazon for $ 144.99) is the go-to. Its balance of superior waterproofing, warmth, and timeless, cute style won our hearts and our tests.

If you spend a lot of time hiking in the cold, the Muck Boots Arctic Ice Tall (available from Amazon) are also a good choice. They are incredibly comfortable, warm, and made to protect your feet from ice, sleet, and snow. Whether you're shoveling deep snow in your driveway or just walking your dog on an icy street, Sorel has you covered.

After many tests, we decided that Sorel's Caribou boots for women are the best you can buy.

Women's Sorel Caribou Boots

Sorel's Caribou women's boots were the best women's winter boots we tested. With their superior insulation and tough rubber outsole, they got the best results out of every boot we called to test. Caribous are instantly comfortable and keep your feet warm without overheating, protecting them in temperatures as low as -40 degrees Fahrenheit. They are perfect for heavy snowfall and stylish enough to wear on your daily commute. Featuring a synthetic fleece trimmed cuff, they are available in black, tan and gray.

During testing, the Caribous provided excellent traction on ice. The seam-sealed leather upper kept my feet completely dry and the vulcanized rubber covering that covers the bottom half of the boot offers excellent protection against deep snow and sleet. The best part? The removable recycled felt liners on the Caribou can be changed if wet, allowed to dry, and replaceable if worn. Our tests suggest that you should increase half your usual shoe size when purchasing these boots, as the Caribou are short and wide.

The only downside to these is that they are a bit bulky, which could make it difficult to use the stairs or drive.
